Can Myspace track who views your page if you ask for a report?

I know profile trackers go against the Myspace terms %26amp; conditions, but I was told that an IT person from Myspace was providing someone with a printout of all the visitors to a page because it was requested (as part of a anti-stalking sort of thing). But I don't see any mention of this on the site. Is this possible?

Can Myspace track who views your page if you ask for a report?

Yes. Under certain Internet privacy laws, Myspace, some other websites, and the legal authorities are entitled to trace the IP addresses of computers, which reflects their location and identity, under certain conditions, like what you just mentioned.

It is illegal, however, for any common user to do it.

They Can Track It But I Doubt They Would Give You A Report.

MySpace may give out the IP logs of who visits your page but that won't associate with a specific profile. You can setup the same kind of tracking just by linking a picture from your own web hosting service. Your service will keep a similar log and you can see what IP addresses loaded that picture.

But I don't think there is any way to track specific profiles as you probably assume.

Not without a court order. And even then if the user you wished to identify was using a decent proxy, it would be impossible.

ADVICE: Do not put personal information on such sites as myspace. Assume that whatever you put on your myspace page is going to be viewed by the world at large (even if you have it set to private).
